And so the question of the day: Why Buy Local?
Everyone is offering Managed Print Services (MPS), from the big nationwide copier companies, to the small local printer repair business. WHY choose our program, OneFleet by Lazer1?
Big Copier Company might have their main offices located somewhere around Fargo, North Dakota. (nothing against Fargo… it’s just really far from Athens!) They will diagnose your printer over the phone and send a part to your office based on their best guess as to what the problem is. They will then search the Internet to find a free-lance computer tech near Athens, Georgia with some experience in laser printer repair. They have never met the technician. Sure, he might be a nice, well dressed tech from Lazer1; he might also be some random dude that looks like he just crawled out from under a bridge. Random Tech Dude will then show up, replace that part that Fargo Big Copier Company shipped out and hope it fixes the printer. If it’s fixed, great! If not, begin the process over… Then Random Tech Dude might have to wait 90 days or more to get paid by Fargo Big Copier Company… Which means he will not be very willing to do another service call for them again. Which means they will have to go back to searching the Internet to find Random Tech Dude #2…..
On the other hand, here at Lazer1, We Care!! We sincerely appreciate each one of our valuable clients. Without you, our business wouldn’t succeed. Wouldn’t thrive. Case in point: Last week. Three service calls to one of our clients. HP LaserJet 4200tn (w/ 3rd paper tray) would randomly pick paper from the wrong paper tray. She needed it to print from Tray 3, the printer would decide to print from Tray 2. Valuable letterhead was being wasted unnecessarily and we were very concerned! Our excellent technician reset the printer to factory settings… reloaded the drivers… checked and re-checked the settings on the computer and printer. Nothing worked! So we removed the offending printer completely from the client’s offices, and brought in a different unit…
…. and the problem continued! So our tech looked deeper. He sent test prints from different programs, from email, etc. until he finally reached the root of the problem. The printer would print to the wrong tray only from one specific program. IT was notified so that particular software could be re-installed, and the situation was resolved. Happy client!
But wait… how much was that bill for:
- Three on-site service calls: $75 x 3 = $225
- HP LaserJet 4200tn printer: $599
- Sales tax on the printer: $41.93
The total bill was… let me get my calculator… it was: $0.00. That’s right! Zip. Zero. Nada.
Fortunately, our client signed up for our OneFleet by Lazer1 Managed Print Program about 3 months ago. So we were able to have their printing capabilities back up to speed for NO additional charge! Even though that involved going above and beyond our normal scope of work, and getting involved in computer settings & software.
